Preparation and staying connected are two things that can help people in recovery stay sober over the festive period, Clouds House Treatment Consultant Michael Rawlinson has told the presenters of the BBC Hooked podcast.
Michael was appearing in the podcast’s Christmas special, providing advice on how to avoid relapse over the Christmas period, a time which can trigger a lot of emotions for those in recovery.
Speaking to podcast hosts Melissa Rice and Jade Wye, both former clients of Clouds House, Michael spoke about the need for people in active recovery to be vigilant at Christmas, to stay connected to their recovery community and to prepare and plan for events they are attending where there will be a lot of alcohol, such as Christmas parties.
